yes they can.
Howeve...The state can take back land?
yes they can.
However, according to the federal constitution, no authority can acquire land without adequate compensation (ie. pay market prices)

If the government empties our coffers to pay for the land, it's one sure way to lose power in Penang as the state does not have a deep pocket. Don't expect other Penangites to pay for it.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03141946683726156066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27256617.post-37609334496953338272009-09-04T22:18:26.658+08:002009-09-04T22:18:26.658+08:00Your argument is simply too simplistic on the capa...Your argument is simply too simplistic on the capability of the State Government.

It's not even an argument. It's distorted and lack information such as on the consequences if the State Government took action and is sued by the developers.

Now the villagers get double-storey houses which is far by the best settlement I have ever seen or heard.

To the developers, it's bad news as other "squatters" and villages will want such settlement in the future. (You heard it right, WANT! not reluctantly accept those low cost houses or apartment units given by BN government). The developer has certainly been agitated by this Kg Buah Pala case.

The PENANG State Government has managed to give the villagers something no one else get before and now has set the standard for settlement! Which I think is great news for villagers!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
