I swear ... you swear.. Permatang Pauh decides only its MP, nothing more

Looking at the Permatang Pauh by-election, one can only see how 'sad' the contesting parties have become..

It seems that the issue of whether Anwar is guilty of sodomy or not seem to be the pre-occupation during this by-elections.

We had that Saiful coming out and swearing that he was sodomized by Anwar just before nomination day - and then ....

...over on the Pakatan Rakyat stage - we have Uztaz Ramlang Porigi from the FT Mosque openly raises doubts on Saiful's oath that he was sodomised by Anwar. He was there when Saiful did his swearing... He raises doubts about the sincerity...etc

Then, we have good Najib, our DPM, also getting into this swearing bit , whilst playing football alone....

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has challenged PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to come clean and “cleanse his morality the Islamic way.”

“That is what the voters of Permatang Pauh want. Bersihkanlah moral cara Islam (cleanse your morality the Islamic way).

VIP kick-start: Najib kicking off a football match at the Sukan Rakyat at Padang Sukan Taman Semilang yesterday. — Bernama

“Anwar says he cannot trust the police, courts and doctors. Don’t tell me even in Allah he does not trust?” he told reporters while visiting Taman Sembilang in Seberang Jaya yesterday.

Najib, who spoke at a gathering in Taman Sembilang and later visited a Barisan operations centre there, said the people did not want someone who was famous in London, Bangkok and Singapore.

“These were the places he took his alleged ‘coffee boy’ Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan to. Now he has denied everything,” he said, adding that Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah was not known internationally but he would serve the people well. - Star Online, 25/8/2008 -Najib challenges Anwar to come clean the Islamic way

There is an interesting story in the Bible where a women caught allegedly commiting adultery is about to be stoned, when Jesus wonders along - and says to them potential stonners "He, who has not sinned shall cast the first stone"... and no one was there to cast any stones.

Mohd Najib Razak - I remember, it was you, who did first come out and give all Malaysians the false impression that you did not know...have not met Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. Saiful was only an acquaintance of your staff....

THEN, later out came the TRUTH that Saiful interestingly came and did meet you - even before he did make any police report alleging sodomy (possibly before even he went to that PUSRAWI Hospital, etc...)

I believe that you have been dishonest...Mohd Najib Razak.

There has been a whole lot of talk that you are involved in that Mongolian woman's case - that now deceased Altantuya's case.

In fact, we all still remember what PI Balasubramaniam said in his 1st Statutory Declaration - which mysteriously was all attempted to be cancelled out by the 2nd SD - and then the PI and his family just went missing for a while.... (Has he been found yet?)

I wonder whether our Mohd Najib Razak did swear that he did not know that Mongolian...never met her...and is not involved in the murder...etc.. Did he swear? (He may have, since it is becoming fashionable these days BUT I seriously do not recall)

And really, what exactly is that Port Dickson scandal... Anwar also is most irritating when he hints about certain things but then do not really tell us what it is all about -- same thing with that boxes of documentary evidence that he allegedly has which will expose all scandals - or is he going to use all these "secrets" as a means to 'control' certain persons later with threats of exposure. One good thing about Dr. M, is that he discloses facts as well - and not just stops at hints.

In a rare outburst that is perhaps telling of the toll the Permatang Pauh by-election is taking on him, opposition icon Anwar Ibrahim is threatening to expose a 'dark secret' of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's, involving the southern beach town of Port Dickson, if the latter continued to wage personal attacks against him.

MCPX
"Enough is enough. Stop the scornful lies on me," Anwar warned during a rally at the Bukit Mertajam mini-stadium last night. "Otherwise, I will expose Port Dickson." - Malaysiakini, 20/8/2008 - 'Najib, remember Port Dickson?'

Sometimes, we have to pity the voters - because candidates and their campaign do not really provide them with much real reasons as to why they should vote for this person -- and not the other.

People are not bothered about alleged sodomy, etc - they say leave it to the trial and the courts, and let the due course of the law takes its course...

Who swears or who does not is really not material?

Of course, in 1999, Najib was not into this 'to swear or not to swear' position - then it was let them criminal courts proceed with the case . I do not remember Najib even questioning the jurisdiction of the criminal courts -- for, after all, is not liwat is a matter that the syariah court does have jurisdiction...

What we are seeing is a by-elections - that it all. The voters of Permatang Pauh do not represent the people of Malaysia...

The voters of Permatang Pauh - would have been subjected to whole lot of 'bribes', inducements, threats, entertainment, spin,....etc - and now, they will have to cast their votes.

Remember Ijok voted BN in the by-elections --- but come GE several months later, they voted opposition.

What will the outcome be?

* Anwar loses - well and good, maybe he can stand in another by-elections..

* Anwar wins - not too big a surprise - for after all in March 2008 (just 5 months ago), they already indicated that they did not want BN - chosing instead Anwar's wife.

If Anwar loses, will Pakatan Rakyat not come into power this September 16?

Why - because the main person working for it is no more interested because now even if PR comes into power because, he, Anwar Ibrahim, cannot be the PM --

I hope Anwar is not like this, win or lose Permatang Pauh, should not de-rail the Pakatan Rakyat plan to take over the reigns of government from the BN come 16 September (or was it all a bull-shit all along???...another spin...)

  2. Charles, you have also missed out on one important bit in John 8 verse 8, where Jesus wrote something on the ground. Apart from Him saying "...anyone without sin...throw the first stone...", what He wrote on the ground did cause the religious elders to leave first followed by the others. In the same way, in our season, God is writing our destiny for Malaysia to fulfil His Will for His Kingdom here as it is in heaven. We are not fighting against flesh and blood...it is a spiritual warfare between God's people and the dominion of darkness.

3The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" 6They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 8Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"11"No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin." - John 8 v.3-11 NIV

‘Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t’ is an old adage often quoted by those who prefer to cling to the status quo on the basis that any change involves risk and the risk of changing for the worse is reason enough not to try a new path.

In the context of Malaysia, there are some who are comfortable with BN’s rule and are unwilling to give a chance to Anwar Ibrahim and the Pakatan Rakyat coalition to fulfill their promises of better governance and a better future for the country.

There is something to be said for the stability and relative economic wellbeing that the BN government has provided so far. Why change something which has worked for the past 50 years? There are also some who do not care about social justice or a civil society as long as they can go about their normal business.

This argument may have some merit if the status quo can be maintained for the next 50 years and beyond. But it cannot. Even if all you care about is a plate of rice on your table, that plate of rice is going to get more and more expensive as inflation jacks its price up, depreciating real income reduces your purchasing power to buy it.

A country is like a big corporation. The profitability of the corporation is a function of how well it is managed. If the management steals money from the company, awards contracts based on kickbacks and personal relationships instead of best price and performance, squanders funds on useless expenditures which do not benefit the company and promotes staff based on reasons other than merit, the company is going to suffer and will eventually fail, throwing the economic wellbeing of the staff into doubt.

On the national scale, endemic corruption is robbing the country of its resources and levies a ‘corruption tax’ on the public in the form of higher tax, higher prices of public utilities and poor quality of public facilities. (Take the MRR2 flyover in Kepong as an example). An international research firm has estimated that a massive RM10 billion a year is lost to corruption in Malaysia.

On the economic front, racial policies which limit economic opportunities to a large segment of the population are robbing the country’s competitiveness in the world market. Such anti-competitive policies have also resulted in a sharp reduction of foreign direct investment to Malaysia.

In education, racial policies are again responsible for declining academic standards and churning out unemployable graduates. Our best and brightest students who are denied scholarships and academic opportunities by virtue of race, leave to study overseas and most refuse to return to face the racial inequality of our society. They represent a precious brain drain which robs the nation of the best of our human capital.

The rule of law is breaking down with public institutions meant to protect the rights of citizens subverted to serve and protect the ruling party. If the whole criminal justice system from the police to the judiciary can be abused to convict an innocent man of false charges, no Malaysian is safe from unfair prosecution.

Economic decline goes hand in hand with the breakdown of social justice as all countries with authoritarian regimes can attest.

The effect of all this economic and social mismanagement is a depreciated currency, high inflation, high unemployment, high taxes and widespread poverty while an elite group gets super-rich. As the country’s economy declines and discontent rises, oppressive methods will be used by the ruling party to maintain its hold on power.

Unfortunately, for those who are willing to accept ‘the devil they know’ in the hope of maintaining the status quo, Malaysia will not remain where it is in an increasingly competitive world.

Instead of gearing up to face the challenge of globalisation, the government is concerned with ugly political conspiracy and racial politics to maintain its hold on power and we are sliding down a slippery slope to a failed state like Zimbabwe. Perhaps we will reach there in time to greet 2020.

Amid all this gloom, who can save Malaysia?

It goes without saying that Umno which is the backbone of the ruling party cannot change its ways with patronage (an euphemism for corruption) as its core philosophy and creating and exploiting racial polarisation as its means of maintaining power.

The leader who can lead Malaysia out of its present predicament must be visionary enough to plot a path for the country, strong enough to weed out corruption and have enough charisma among the Malays to change long-standing racial policies which hold back the country from achieving its full potential. There is no Malaysian leader which fits the bill except Anwar Ibrahim.

Perhaps it was destiny that Anwar was kicked out of Umno and rose again as the leader of a new party dedicated to social justice and multi-racialism. Within Umno, he would never be able to effect widespread change even as president of the party and prime minister of the country, bearing in mind how deeply Umno is steeped in corruption and racism.

A leader like Anwar with strength, passion, vision and charisma only comes once in a lifetime. Natural leaders like him are born, not trained or groomed.

We are blessed to have such a leader as the nation faces an uncertain future in a changing world and stands on the cusp of tumultuous change. It is no more possible to find a replacement for Anwar than it is possible to find a replacement for Martin Luther King.

Let us not allow a university drop-out to steal this leader away from us. It would be akin to stealing the future of the country.

  6. Woe to the slanderer and the backbiter.

BN/UMNO shares another page with the US.
After 9/11 America legitimised ISA by coercing Congress and Senate to bring the Patriot ACT into law.
There was a bizarre election scandalette in the poll among competitors for athlete-representatives to the International Olympic Committee. The US tried to ensure victory for its candidate, Julie Foudy, by offering team members a $50 (€34, £27) shopping voucher if they voted.
Do the above reminds us of a particular party?

BN/UMNO took things a step further; they accused DSAI of snitching for Uncle Sam of course without a thread of proof. Little did we know, Paul Wolfowitz also accused Anwar Ibrahim of going extremist and swore that Muslim heads of gomen and their foreign ministers sanction some even lobbied George Bush regime to Invade Iraq which culminated war and occupation to this day.
Mahathir Mohamad Abdullah Badawi along with Husni Mubarak Abdullah of Jordan and a host of wicked men and women said Paul Wolfowitz given America the green light to attack Iraq and Afghanistan. Paul Wolfowitz vouchsafe to reveal all the signatories along with their dossier and secret connivance.

Anwar Ibrahim opposed the invasion both secretly and openly. Anwar Ibrahim is the only recognised Muslim leader along with Nik Azziz and the Malay leadership of PAS to have vehemently oppose and criticized the invasion war and occupation of a Muslim country.

So who is the real American Agents - and who in the Majlis Tertingi aren't members of the US & UK lodge? The Devil' advocates. Anwar Isn't.

I would give my all to the first person who dare refute credibly my claims. Don't worry I ain't running anywhere.
