PKR leader detained under Detention Without Trial Law - Dangerous Drug (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985

All you need to do is allege, and there is no need  for you to prove these 'false allegations' , and the victim of these allegations also cannot go to court to challenge these 'false allegations'. This is the case of all 3 Detention Without Trial laws in Malaysia, and one if this is the Dangerous Drug (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985.

We have been focusing a lot on the ISA, and we forget to focus on the other 2 laws that allow for Detention Without Trial.

Dangerous Drug (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985, just like the ISA, also allows for the police to detain up to 60 days, and thereafter for a person to be detained by virtue of the Minister's Detention Order of 2 years at a time, which can be renewed indefinitely...There is also no substantive judicial review available to the detainee, i.e. cannot question of challenge the reasons for the Detention.

Release that PKR leader immediately and unconditionally, and repeal all laws that allow for Detention Without Trial. [Reviewing and/or amending is just a waste of time - just repeal them for we already do have sufficient laws for all kinds of crimes in Malaysia...]

A state PKR Youth leader has been arrested for alleged involvement in drug activities.
The man, in his 30s, was arrested on the night of Dec 23, in Padang Tembak, Kelantan.

Sources said he was arrested on suspicion of being a drug dealer, and that police have frozen his assets.

He is being detained at the Kota Baru police district headquarters’ lock-up under Section 3(1) of the Dangerous Drug (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985, which allows detention of up to 60 days.

However, it is also learnt that no drugs were seized from him at the time of his arrest.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan confirmed the arrest and said investigations were under way - Star, 1/1/2010, PKR leader held for alleged drug dealing
