Toshi is a photographer and anti-Death Penalty Activist. He is 55 years old. He started his career as a very successful artist in New York in his 20s, doing commercial photographs - he works under Richard Avedon, Albert Watson and shot for Vogue. He is married, has 3 kids and lives in New York. He started taking photographs of criminals on death row when he became an attempted murder victim himself. Soon after, he chose to give up his commercial activities to pursue his own work. Very quickly, Toshi becomes probably the only photographer to be allowed to take photographs of people on death row in prisons around the U.S., and shortly in other countries as well.

Toshi is a founding member of Murder Victims' Families for Human Rights, an NGO which brings together the families of victims and of executed inmates. He is also the Asia Program Director of "Journey of Hope", another victims' organization. All of Toshi's artworks focus on the value of human life and respect for each other. He shows the realities of the death penalty through his photos and experiences. Toshi has toured the world sharing these photographs and experiences, being a powerful force for change for good.
