If Permatang Pauh is worse off than areas, then it is the BN government's fault not the MP?

Malaysia's Barisan Nasional government, and its Ministers seems to fail to understand democracy. If there are any Parliamentary Constituency in Malaysia that are 'worse off' than any other area in Malaysia, it is the fault and the failure of the Barisan Nasional Federal Government. No constituency must be discriminated against just because the people chooses some other person other than the BN person as their Member of Parliament or ADUN. 

Let us not forget that Permatang Pauh had a Barisan Nasional MP for a very long time, and he was also the Deputy Prime Minister at one time. Hence, the 'backwardness' of this constituency is more likely the fault of the BN government.

Now, the Federal government, which is the BN government, is responsible for education, healthcare, roads, etc... and also is the recipient of all our income tax, GST, etc - and all this money comes from all the people irrespective of whether their MP or ADUN is from BN or not. 

Now, even when it comes to garbage collection and grass cutting, it is said that it has in most place no more under the Local Councils but are all now under the Federal Government - the BN Federal Government. 

A State government, in comparison do not have much resources from taxes, etc - so blame cannot even too much be placed on State Governments - as much as on the BN Federal Government. 

Permatang Pauh may have had an Opposition MP - but let us not forget that Penang was also under the BN until recently. Roads are the responsibility of Federal government, or the State Government (if it is State roads) - so if there are bad roads, Mr Works Minister, is it not the BN government's failure.

It really is shocking when Federal Ministers of the BN government imply that their Ministries will not help if people vote for some other than a BN candidate. A Federal government Minister should focus attention on all of Malaysia, and on all Malaysians irrespective of party affiliation. In fact, I am of the opinion, that they should not be campaigning in their capacity as a Minister, and if they do 'campaign', they should do so in their personal capacity as an individual, as a BN party member. [Make sure also that you are on 'annual leave' when you go out campaigning, and no claims are made to the Ministry for your expenses during this period...]

If a Minister in the allocation of funds allocated for the work of his/her Ministry shows preference to his/her own constituency, or constituencies where his fellow BN members are MP and ADUN, it is very very wrong. Priority of any Ministry is to where it is most needed to ensure equitable development exist throughout Malaysia...

Maybe, the Education Minister need to include 'Democracy' into our school curriculum - for obviously, some people just do not understand what it means.

 

Permatang Pauh worse off than poor areas in Sarawak, says minister

PERMATANG PAUH, May 4, 2015:

Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said Permatang Pauh was worse off than the poor rural areas in Sarawak due to neglect by the Opposition.

“Permatang Pauh had been 17 years under the Opposition, and now the poor people here are worse off than people in Sarawak.

“Sarawak, in contrast, has been able to achieve much progress and it is now the third best state in terms of outside investments.”

He said Barisan Nasional (BN) was committed to serve the people and bring development and did not waste time politicking.

Unfortunately, there were those who were only interested to incite hatred against the federal government, he said.

“As a result, they are left behind such as what is happening in Permatang Pauh now,” he told residents in Permatang Nibong during a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme by the Works Ministry here today.

He said the federal government was committed to repair community facilities such as schools.

The state never really helped with the infrastructure here, which was why the federal government needed to step in, said Fadillah.

Fadillah, from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), said the Works Ministry was committed to work closely with locals regarding local infrastructure should BN win the by-election, including road repairs and a RM400 million upgrading project for Seberang Jaya Hospital.

He took a swipe at the Opposition for neglecting the roads in Permatang Pauh, saying that federal funds meant to repair roads were not used for the said purpose.

“They also tend to push responsibility by saying that those are federal roads.”

His statement that Permatang Pauh was worse off than poor Sarawakians might not be agreed by locals.

It was reported last year that Sarawak had the largest number of poor people among all the states in Malaysia.

Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Fatimah Abdullah was quoted in the media as saying that  26,335 people earned less than RM600 a month, while 31,441 earned RM920 or less and 9,633 earned RM1,500 or less in Sarawak.
