15 Immigration Officers 'Sacked' - not right, just charge them in court? To ensure no 'cover ups'? Deterrence too? Justice demands it..

Charge public servants(immigration officers, police officers,..) who commit crimes in court - internal disciplinary measures not enough - Is it a way of keeping the TRUTH hidden from the public? Is it a way to cover-up and protect the guilty 'Big Bosses'? One wonders...

Sacking of 15 Immigration officers on the face of it looks like it is right...BUT is it not a violation of worker rights? They have not yet been convicted of any criminal offence, have they? Are these officers mere 'scapegoats'? Is it an attempt to 'cover up' the truth or maybe even save the real criminal masterminds?

If these immigration officers are guilty - then charge them in court, try them and if they are guilty, then the courts will find them guilty....and, if convicted of a crime, then they will be justification for their termination. Otherwise, we wonder...whether this is just a creative way to protect the really guilty...and these officers are mere 'scapegoats'..

Internal disciplinary actions is just not the way when it comes to dealing with public officers...we want the truth, and that will only come out through a fair and open trial... The whole truth will also come out and the 'big bosses' involved will also be revealed...The police too have been resorting to so-called 'internal disciplinary measures' ...even for those involved in torture and even 'death in custody cases'...

Charge the Immigration Officer, Who beat up migrant/foreigner, in Court. Internal disciplinary action insufficient?

What happened to those police officers that tortured and killed persons in custody, to those police officers that helped 'cover-up', to those who made false police reports and even false entries in their police diaries, to those who 'hid' or 'destroyed' relevant evidence. Remember the EAIC reports on the cases of Syed Mohd Azlan and N. Dharmendran...In the case of N Dharmendra, apparently a few officers been charged for the killing - but not yet those who made false entries/reports, 'covered up', etc - read the EAIC report/statement..

EAIC’S INVESTIGATION FINDINGS ON THE DEATH OF N. DHARMENDRAN IN POLICE CUSTODY

Police officers that tortured and killed detainee - what will the AG and the Malaysian government do?

EAIC - Polis bunuh Syed Mohd Azlan dalam tahanan, lupuskan keterangan,...??- MAKLUMAN SIASATAN SURUHANJAYA INTEGRITI AGENSI PENGUATKUASAAN (EAIC)  KE ATAS KEMATIAN SYED MOHD AZLAN BIN SYED MOHAMED NUR SEMASA DI DALAM TAHANAN POLIS DIRAJA MALAYSIA (PDRM)

15 officers sacked over Immigration system sabotage
By FAZLEENA AZIZ - 31 May 2016 @ 12:28 PM

PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has sacked 15 of its officers for their involvement in sabotaging the Malaysian Immigration System (myIMMs).

The 15 were among a total of 37 officers who have received disciplinary action over their role in the sabotage. Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Sakib Kusmi said the disciplinary action also includes 14 suspensions and eight who had their salary increments frozen.

He said some of the officers have been with the department between six months and 15 years.

“All the officers and staff involved in the disciplinary action are from various support level service schemes, stationed at the main entrance gates into Malaysia.

“The department is also in the midst of transferring 63 officers from various level and another 20 more will be facing disciplinary action soon.

“We will also be implementing the snake queue (immigration check queue) at the arrival and departure gates in the Kuala Lumpur International Aiport (KLIA),” he told a press conference today. Later Sakib visited the Immigration counters at KLIA.

He said Immigration's Standard Operating Procedure would be reviewed to curb misuse of power and violation of integrity among officers.

Asked if the upgrading of the international Malaysian passport system had any relation to the sabotage case, Sakib said “probably yes”, as the system was also part of it.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said that about 100 people were suspected of being involved in the sabotage of the myIMMs.

He said the officers are believed to have been involved in sabotaging the myIMMs for financial gains and had been doing it for the past six months to two years.  - New Straits Times, 31/5/2016
