Loke and government failing - Do not discriminate people in terms of train service, and WHY HSR when the electrified double tracks only begin full operation in mid-2025 for the same route?

Diesel subsidy going, and soon it will be petrol too - and the important issue is STATE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT -Trains and Busses?

Will Anthony Loke(Minister of Transport) end discrimination against people of Kelantan, Pahang and Negeri Sembilan? The right to good public transport should be accorded to all - and simply be focused on Klang Valley and the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

Loke said the expected delivery date for all is set by Aug 12 next year, and ETS3 trains will be used for the Gemas-Johor Baru newly-electrified and double-tracked sections, as well as the entire west coast rail network from Padang Besar in the north to Johor Baru in the south.
What about Tumpat to Gemas - no electrified double tracks with trains that travel 140 Km per hour? Is this not discrimination?

Take the Electrified Double Track - From Padang Besar Until Johor Bahru, What about from TUMPAT to GEMAS? Is it being planned or built? No, why NOT? Wow, these trains travel fast at 140 Km per hour.

Upon completion, the journey from KL Sentral in Brickfields to JB Sentral will take three hours and 30 minutes at a speed of 140 kilometres per hour.

The Prime Minister, Minister Anthony Loke and Cabinet should travel by train from Gemas to Tumpat(Kelantan) on the ERT : Ekspres Rakyat Timuran, and realize how limited is the service, how slow and how much it needs improvement. Improvement needed also in terms of frequency of travel...

Taking the shuttle service from Kuala Lipis to Gemas, there is one at 10.20am, and another at 4.10pm ONLY - it is inadequate. Not even suitable for people who want to use the train to get to work or school on the same day. The shuttle service should be helpful to people so it should start early morning where people can use to go to work and/or school and return home.

Let's look at the West Coast - the government has expended monies to upgrade it to a newly-electrified and double-tracked which will be using the Electric Trains. The west coast route, I believe. is almost completed - save for Gemas-Johor Baru ( which is expected to be completed and operational by August 2025.

Loke said the expected delivery date for all is set by Aug 12 next year, and ETS3 trains will be used for the Gemas-Johor Baru newly-electrified and double-tracked sections, as well as the entire west coast rail network from Padang Besar in the north to Johor Baru in the south.

Now, even before the upgraded electrified double track is operational, which will be in August next year >> this government is FOOLISHLY looking at High Speed Rail(HSR) between JB to KL.

Logically, one will wait some time(a couple of years) after the double-track is operations and then evaluate whether this is sufficient, or whether the HSR is needed still?

BUT, then remember, the government ought to be concerned about ALL of Malaysia, and priority now should be the making train service available everywhere - one should be able to take the train from any town one is.

ECRL coming is good - but how exactly is the people from towns away from the ECRL stations be able to get to the ECRL stations. We need a workable network of train lines, and as such this network linking all towns to the train network is needed. I wonder too about the price of tickets on this ECRL - will the B40 be able to afford?

In Klang Valley, there is the LRTs, KTMB Komuter, etc - what about the other towns. There is no more even public bus service in the towns, and even to get to Hospital and government departments, it is difficult > the only option now is the EXPENSIVE Grab, which by the way in many smaller towns may not even exist or just have a few cars.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has received the first set of electric trains (ETS3) for the Gemas-Johor Baru Electric Double Track railway service.

The ETS3 trains were handed over by the contractor CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co Ltd to the Transport Ministry at a presentation ceremony in Zhuzhou, Hunan province, China.

At the event, Transport Minister Anthony Loke (pic) said he was happy that the ETS3 project was going well and hoped that the next set would be delivered and completed on time.

“When this rolling stock (is ready) by next year, we will start the ETS service from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to Johor Baru when the Johor Baru-Gemas track is ready later.

“Wait for this service to arrive and we will provide the latest service to Malaysians,” he said in a video message shared by his ministry with the Malaysian media yesterday, Bernama reported. In his speech at the ceremony, Loke said the new ETS3 trains have a seating capacity of 312 seats, with 36 for business class and 276 standard seats.

“I have been informed that a total of eight trains will be assembled in Malaysia apart from the first two sets that will be shipped from Zhuzhou, China,” he said.

Loke said the expected delivery date for all is set by Aug 12 next year, and ETS3 trains will be used for the Gemas-Johor Baru newly-electrified and double-tracked sections, as well as the entire west coast rail network from Padang Besar in the north to Johor Baru in the south.

The new trains will enable transformation in travel behaviour in Malaysia, he added.

He also described it as a game changer for millions of Malaysians, as the journey time between Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru will be greatly reduced and transport reliability and safety will also improve significantly.

“It is also worth mentioning that significant efforts have been made to ensure local manufacturers have meaningful participation and benefits from the positive spillover by working with CRRC in Malaysia,” he added. - Star, 9/6/2024

Loke: KL-Singapore HSR discussions with SG only after cabinet approval

PUTRAJAYA: Discussions over the proposed Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail (HSR) project with the Singapore government will only take place after obtaining cabinet approval, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Loke said the ministry is waiting to present the matter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim first for his approval before tabling the issue in cabinet.

"As of now, the HSR proposal is still at the Transport Ministry level. We are awaiting the prime minister's approval first, after which it will be presented to the cabinet.

"I informed the Singapore Transport Minister (Chee Hong Tat) that there are ongoing discussions on our side. We will have official discussions after receiving cabinet approval," he told reporters in a press conference after chairing the National Logistic Task Force meeting today.

Asked about the essence of the discussion with Singapore transport minister, Loke said they discussed connectivity between the two countries and ongoing discussions regarding airspace.

"Malaysia's major concern and issue is improving airspace efficiency between the Peninsula and Sabah, Sarawak.

"There are many discussions about airspace and how we can increase capacity for both countries in terms of airspace management. We aim to make airspace more efficient."

In January, NST reported that seven local and international consortia, comprising three firms have submitted the RFI concept proposal for the HSR project.

MyHSR launched the RFI in July 2023 as the government explored reactivating the project to construct a 350-km dedicated high-speed line between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, which was canceled in 2021, under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

It was reported that the rail project would allow a shorter travel time of 90 minutes between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore

This will include seven stations in Malaysia, namely, Bandar Malaysia, Sepang-Putrajaya, Seremban, Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri; as well as Jurong East in Singapore. - NST, 17/5/2024
