Fong Khei Por, Malaysia's DGIR, be more efficient and act speedily about Union recognition in Malaysian Airlines?

Well, who is the man responsible for the union recognition in Malaysia? Well, that would be Director General of Industrial Relations(DGIR) - and after some searching on the internet - I discovered that Malaysia's DGIR was Fong Khei Por.

As required by law, vide letter delivered on 6/10/2015, NUFAM then reported the matter in writing to the Director General for Industrial Relations to take such steps or make such enquiries...

Now, maybe he could answer why it is taking so long for him to act on the matter of the  recognition of the National Union of Flight Attendants of Malaysia(NUFAM) by Malaysian Airlines Berhad(MAB).
Well, it is now more than 65 days that NUFAM send him the required letter, and according to NUFAM there has been no response until now.

There is no question about the scope - so all the DGIR has to do was to do the necessary to get the secret ballot done - so why is Fong Khei Por delaying? Is there 'instructions' from the top to delay - well, he should not be bothered with all such 'orders'... all he should do is follow the existing law. [Sadly, the law is silent about TIME - so that really does not mean unreasonable delay is OK. is it now?]

Is this a question of inefficiency on the part of our DGIR? Now workers are waiting for their Union to be recognized, so that their Union can step up and more effectively act for them - and even start working on their Collective Bargaining Agreement(CBA)?

If Mr Fong cannot do his job efficiently, maybe the Minister should just get us a NEW DGIR? In any event, the fault also lies with the Minister of Human Resources(MOHR) - maybe time for him to be replaced by a better more efficient Minister who is concerned about worker and trade union rights.

Maybe, we should all email the DGIR - and ask him why he is taking so much time? His email is  kpfong@mohr.gov.my

Cadangan Tubuh Jawatankuasa Tiga Pihak Selia Pelaksanaan Gaji Minimum Diteliti - Riot

- BERNAMA, MStar, 15/12/2013
