Only MPs can remove a Prime Minister - Should we not ask MPs to remove or keep the PM, based on the will of the people? MPs use your constitutional powers

Today, in Malaysia, we REALIZE that a Prime Minister can anytime be removed - and all that is needed is for more than 50% of the Members of Parliament (the PEOPLES' Representatives) to express that they have lost confidence in Anwar continuing to be the Prime Minister...

Art. 43 Federal Constitution -  (4) If the Prime Minister ceases to command the confidence of the majority of the members of the House of Representatives, then, unless at his request the Yang di-Pertuan Agong dissolves Parliament, the Prime Minister shall tender the resignation of the Cabinet.

What has happened since Anwar became the Prime Minister...

(1) The Pakatan Harapan promised REFORMS like the abolition of bad laws like Sedition Act, etc did not happen - worse, the use of that draconian Sedition Act has increased. Anwar said it would be confined to 3R issues - Race, Religion and ROYALTY - but then, why was the Sedition Act used again in that protest in Sabah which ended in the burning of Anwar's caricature... Is Anwar also to be considered 'ROYALTY"?

Police are investigating the burning of a caricature of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at an anti-corruption rally in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, yesterday. Sabah police chief Jauteh Dikun said the incident, purportedly carried out by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students who took part in the protest, is being investigated under the Sedition Act and the Penal Code. - FMT, 23/6/2025

(2) Najib was quickly pardoned - his jail sentence slashed in half; Now, another Najib's case has been DNAAed, Zahid Hamidi's case after prosecution succeeded in proving Prima Facie case has been DNAAed, The prosecution appeal against Zahid's acquittal to the Court of Appeal has been discontinued (The Court of Appeal denied opportunity to affirm or reject High Court judge's decision to acquit); Note that when a matter is in court, it is for the Judge to decide guilt or otherwise - after considering all evidence, but of late, the Court's power to decide on guilt have been taken away by the Public Prosecutor/AG(chosen by the Prime Minister) by simply deciding not to proceed with the trial...but the people's belief is that it is the Judge that decides on guilt - not the Prime Minister..not his Public Prosecutor. Evidence of non-guilt also ought to be submitted to court for the Judge to decide.

Anwar often says that he did not interfere with the decisions of the AG/Public Prosecutor or the Court or the King's pardon - but sometime his public comments may show otherwise or that is position is in line with what the PP did??? We may never know whether his 'will' was communicated to the Public Prosecutor, Judges or Law Enforcement directly or indirectly - unless there is clear evidence. We, however, remember that his first corruption conviction was about abuse of power in trying to get police officers to 'tamper' with evidence against him..see

"I was the one who brought the application for (Datuk Seri Najib Razak's) royal pardon to be inserted in the Pardons Board agenda," Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said..."Najib has been jailed, but there is room for compassion. When an appeal for a royal pardon is made, I present it to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. We cannot ignore it," he said during Prime Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today. NST, 10/12/2024

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has come to the defence of his deputy over the recent decision by the government's prosecution team to halt the latter's trial on 47 corruption charges. Anwar, who previously denied interfering in the decision while saying it was within the powers of the attorney-general, added that the charges against Ahmad Zahid Hamidi were "questionable" and not carried out professionally. "Was it 47? Every cheque is a charge. So the charge is questionable. Every cheque issued is a charge by itself, which does not necessarily seem to be professionally done," he said when asked about the dropped graft charges during a session at the annual Milken Institute Asia Summit in Singapore. Malaysia Now, 15/9/2023

Was PM's comments about Zahid Hamidi's case inappropriate? A personal opinion OK - but as PM?

The attorney-general (A-G) has withdrawn all of the prosecution's appeals against Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's acquittal from 40 charges of corruption in connection with the Foreign Visa System (VLN) two years ago. - NST, 12/12/2024

The phrase "Anwar defender of the corrupt" is a criticism leveled against Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim by some, suggesting that his actions and alliances have contradicted his past rhetoric as a reformist figure who opposed corruption.

(3) Then, there are questions like WHY 1MDB withdraw its case against Riza (Najib's Step Son)? Should not 1MDB be going after everyone that took 1MDB monies, the Malaysian peoples' monies? 1MDB cannot act without the consent of the Finance Minister Anwar..' Whatever departments or entities under a particular Minister is the responsibility of the said Minister, the Prime Minister(with power to decide on who is Minister or to remove them), and the government of Malaysia, essentially the Executive..

Anwar must answer for dropping 1MDB lawsuit against Riza, says activist(Malaysiakini)

1MDB drops US$248 million lawsuit against Riza Aziz(Najib Stepson) and Ors - Did Anwar Ibrahim, as Finance Minister, order or approve 1MDB's action? Resign as Finance Minister NOW

(4) Anwar, since he became Prime Minister, has failed to REDUCE Malaysia's Debt - all he has done is reduce a bit Malaysia's new debts > thus increasing the total debt, and also the debt servicing charges... DEBT has increased since Anwar became PM??? Should we not be more disciplined and spend what we have - not take more LOANS and spend beyond our means? That was the problem with the PMs, after Mahathir - the Malaysian debts and liabilities have skyrocketed to about RM1.5 Trillion...

(5) PM Anwar's government continues to DISRESPECT peoples rights in elections - if you chose a Opposition MP, then you will 'suffer' with no constitutional development funds. So, the much criticized practice of the pre-GE14 BN regime has returned. Note, when Ismail Sabri was PM, all MPs got similar allocations...did they not?

(6) Where is the increase in DEMOCRACY - we still continue to be denied a democratically people elected Local Government(Council) - something that once PKR and DAP was fighting for in Penang and Selangor, and the problem then was a Federal Law. Could not Anwar's government amend that law, and give the freedom for States to decide whether to have Local Government elections or not.

PM Anwar's government continues with the 'Political Appointment' culture rather that people democratically elected leadership. Even kampung, kampung baru and Taman leaders are politically appointed, not democratically chosen.

Some say that ANWAR's REFORMASI was simply that he become Prime Minister, and nothing else. After Anwar's Pardon and his election as an MP, does anyone remember any comment he made criticizing Mahathir-led PH government policy or decision. I only remember his wanting Mahathir to hand over premiership to him...?? So, has the Anwar then CHANGED after he became Prime Minister after GE15?

As stated earlier, in Malaysia, besides General Elections, only the Members of Parliament has the POWER to keep Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister, or REMOVE him... I do not think ANWAR will step down if the people ask him to..

It is sad that DAP and its MPs, who were once strong advocates of human rights and justice, who were willing to stand up without FEAR or FAVOUR has gone silent... It was, in my opinion, DAP and its vocal MPs that allowed Pakatan Harapan to get mass support - and they now have 40 MPs, a powerful force who can prevent PM Anwar from continuing down the wrong path... Did DAP also deceive the people, giving a 'false impression' until they became government ...Is the DAP of today the REAL DAP?

I believe that there are still MPs who are GOOD, who can prevent further erosion of the nation - and who can stand up, and remove Anwar to be replaced by a better PM.

GUILT - MPs who sat quietly and allowed Najib's 1MDB/SRC scandal to continue after they suspected wrongdoings are just as GUILTY - and Malaysians must reject such MPs come next elections... Likewise, despite knowing what PM Anwar is doing to the nation, those who stay quiet should be REJECTED come next elections... WHY? You MPs have the POWER to remove bad PMs(it is in the Constitution) and if you do not use it, you share the GUILT of the PM too....

Will DAP and Amanah stand up NOW? Remember, Anwar can be removed as Prime Minister, but the same 'UNITY' government can stay in power. Remember PN continued to rule despite Muhyiddin being replaced by Ismail Sabri. Likewise, during the BN pre-GE14 reign, PMs were replaced between GEs too...

It is interesting, that BN who was rejected by Malaysians in GE14, have in fact continued to be in government save for the 22 months after GE14.

Now, Malaysians are concerned that PH is lost - when they chose to JOIN HANDS with BN - and may possibly stand for all future State and General Elections together. Will the people of Malaysia accept this? Remember, the people kicked out BN in favour of the alternative PH - will they treat PH the same, now that the Anwar led-PH has joined hands with BN??
