'BOYCOTT' Parliament is silly - Why?Because Opposition leader got convicted by court?

Pakatan Rakyat's decision to 'BOYCOTT' Parliament is silly....Members of Parliament is supposed to be in Parliament debating and keeping a 'check and balance' on the government. And, the reason why they are boycotting is because the Court of Appeal overturned the High Court decision, convicted and sentenced Anwar Ibrahim for 5 years...

The proper cause of action is to raise this issue in Parliament - submit and Urgent Motion to be debated and voted on...

But wait, what really is the Pakatan Rakyat's objections?
Are they saying that our Judiciary has been 'corrupted' and cannot be relied out to carry out their functions as an 'independent' court?
Are they saying that 1 or all of the Court of Appeal judges acted in a way that was 'biased' or ....?
Are they saying that Najib or UMNO or BN or some other did affect the manner the Court of Judges dealt with that appeal?
Are they saying that the Courts should not convict Anwar or the other Pakatan Rakyat politicians?

What are they really saying?

If their position is that the Judiciary is no more 'good' - then should not the protest be against the Judiciary?

Then should the call not be for total Judicial Reform?

If the protest is just because the Appeal Court convicted Anwar, then it is so lame...and good people should not be involved.

If the protest is just about a few 'bad' judges - name them and let us work to get rid of them..

If the protest is against the Judiciary as a whole, then what should we do? Not attending parliament for a day is just not the way...

To be happy and reap benefits when judgment is in your favour...and to 'condemn' the institution and judges when decisions go against you is very wrong...

There was much disappointment on how the Election Courts went about in dealing with the Election Petitions - the extremely high cost, the rejection of petition based on 'technicalities' not merits... BUT then some PR candidates happily accepted the awards and walked away... see Nurul Izzah should have set the example by not raising petty technical objections, and accepting large costs - Election Petition

So, Pakatan Rakyat really needs to be clear ....

Now, being in support with Karpal is different because he is being charged and prosecuted under that draconian Sedition Act, an Act that we all want to be repealed... but for Anwar's case, we have to ask why? 'Corrupt' judges - all of them? Why....tell us why? Or are we saying that law that makes sodomy a crime needs to be repealed? Or what....

Pakatan to boycott Parliament on Tuesday

Pakatan Rakyat today resolved to boycott the Parliament sitting on Tuesday, March 11, in protest against the conviction and five-year jail sentence imposed on Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy.

In a joint statement today, the opposition coalition said the boycott is also in solidarity with DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh, who will be sentenced for sedition on the same day.

"We will instead stand with Pakatan Rakyat's candidate at the nomination for the Kajang by-election,"  the statement said.

The statement was jointly issued by PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution, PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali and DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke.

However, the trio said Pakatan MPs would be present in Parliament on Monday, for the opening of its new session by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"The court's decision to sentence Anwar to five years in prison and the coming sentencing of Karpal under the Sedition Act is clear evidence of Umno and BN abusing the judiciary.

"Umno and BN have not learnt after being punished by the rakyat since 1998 and are repeating the same mistakes against both Pakatan leaders.

"We are confident Anwar's sacrifice will not be for nothing. His sacrifice will open the eyes of the rakyat and inspire people to stand with Pakatan for change," they said.

BN arrogant despite dwindling support

Saifuddin, Mustafa and Loke said despite the BN's dwindling support, it has remained arrogant and refused to carry out the necessary reforms, including to the judiciary.

"The only reason for this (refusal to reform) is to ensure Umno and BN remain in power," their statement said.

Yesterday, the Court of Appeal overturned a 2012 High Court decision acquitting Anwar of sodomising his former aide.

However, Anwar temporarily remains a free man after the court granted him a stay on the execution of the sentence, on a bail of RM10,000.- Malaysiakini, 8/3/2014, Pakatan to boycott Parliament on Tuesday
