Amanah, just like UMNO, delays party elections beyond party constitution stated length of term of office? Democracy? Violation of party constitution? And members silence ...?

Just like much criticized UMNO. Amanah(of Pakatan Harapan) delays party elections by 18 months.

Party Constitution would likely have stated that elections would have to be held every 3 years - so the term of office of Party President and leadership at national level, state level, division and branch level should be conducted once every 3 years, or even earlier. Most political party denies the right of each member to vote in the election of the national leadership - only PKR seem to give each member one vote.

When they use the delegation system - which gives representatives from branch/division only the right to vote, it simply is not right. Now, like UMNO, leadership of all levels term is usually for 3 years(or less), and delegates come from general meetings at branch/division/State levels - so even a decision is made at Party General Meetings to DELAY ELECTIONS - it is self-serving those whose term is meant to expire by end of 2022 in the case of Amanah > they chose to extend their own terms in office beyond the party constitution/rules set limit of 3 years.

WHY? One possibility is the existing leadership is worried of party elections - worried that they will not be voted in for the next term. Hence loss of support of the party's own membership.

Preparation for upcoming General Elections is really a 'bad excuse' -  State or Federal General elections can be held at any time - we saw this happening in Sabah, Melaka and Johor recently, and mind you, our GE5 can be held anytime in mid-2023, so there is months yet...

Is delaying party elections simply to have control over the choice of MP/ADUN candidates >> to make sure the current leadership supporters/cronies are chosen?

In any even, members are disrespected when party leadership decides to go against their own Party Constitution/Rules and delay elections beyond the 3 year limit..

Did all members even have a say on the decision to delay elections 18 months in Amanah? Today, online facilities are there and ALL members of Amanah could have been part of decision making process to DELAY party elections? Or Amanah national leadership decided on their own..

Party Constitution must be adhered strictly - to amend Constitution requires a two third majority..

If it was last year or before, when we had serious COVID public health issues - then a delay of party elections will be justified...

Amanah can already make arrangements and have its elections now before the 3-year limit or MANDATE expires >>> If Parliament is dissolved and GE15 is called, then planned elections date postponement can always be done then...

What GE15 preparation? Basically now, it really is simply negotiations and deciding on which seat Amanah will be contesting...What else? nothing really...

With Amanah doing this 'delay of party elections', the moral authority of PH to make an issue of UMNO delaying elections may be eroded... You cannot criticize others when you too did the same..

After the Registrar of Societies(ROS) makes a decision any ordinary member of the party(UMNO or Amanah) can appeal to the Minister > Interestingly, in UMNO NOT ONE member appealed the ROS decision to allow the delay of UMNO election to 6 months after GE15? Why? All members OK with this?

Will any individual Amanah member file an appeal to the Minister against the ROS decision to allow Amanah to delay party elections until mid-2024??

The Malaysian Bar has elections every year - and that makes leadership effective - there is no time to delay - for the term ends in a year... Having party elections every 2 years or 3 years really have to be reviewed...as leaders elected tends to procrastinate...

CREDIBLE democratic political parties stick to their party constitution - and if the term is 3 years, elections will be held before the end of 3 years...

See earlier post:

NO Democracy in UMNO? State elections, but still UMNO delays elections - kept Zahid Hamidi in power beyond 3-year term? UMNO members Ok with this?

ROS under pressure from UMNO? Independence of ROS? Extension for holding elections - did it also extend all powers of UMNO leadership, or are they now just a 'caretaker' leadership until elections?

UMNO illegal - no impact on MPs/ADUNs? Societies Act need to be repealed? ROS powers restricted?

UMNO - Risk of Deregistration? Then ROS 'change of mind' and all is OK after UMNO MP becomes PM? ROS must explain...???

ROS decides Mahathir not Chairman of BERSATU > Should it not be members or Court? PH fails to amend Societies Act?
