WhatsApp's setting of Broadcast limits - is a RIGHTS VIOLATION - Freedom of Expression, Setting Limits to our communication with OUR friends on WhatsApp to just 35 Broadcast per month is absurd and unreasonable. Well, apparently my LIMIT is over, and there was no prior information of this new limit that I received... Now, I can only use the Broadcast lists after 30/11/2025 - sorry friends.
Worse, it was NOT the limit for each particular Broadcast list - but all my many different Broadcast List that certainly did not have 35 Broadcast were BLOCKED - so, was it 35 for any or all collectively - just 35...for I do not think in any one of them I sent 35...WhatsAPP RECONSIDER this LIMIT - do not prevent us from regularly communicating...
I have many friends and acquaintances as WhatsApp contacts - about 800-1000. So, if I wanted to communicate to some or all - I used the Broadcast List, which has a limit of 250 names, so to communicate with all the same message - I had to develop 3-4 Broadcast lists.
Some particular friends are interested in certain issues - so, I have a Broadcast list for Lawyers, for workers and Union friends, For those interested in Death Penalty and human rights issues, for those ... > so MANY different Broadcast Lists...
WHY Broadcast List? It allows me to personally communicate to a large number of my friends -- it is a PERSONAL one to one communication, and if and when any respond - I will be able to respond back personally too..
GROUPS is different - because in a Group everyone in a group can post back in a group, and many do not like this, i.e. receiving communications from people they do not know personally...that is the feedback I got > they just want to receive communication from me, and then respond in private to me (not a GROUP) - and that is where the WhatsApp broadcast list was best - it allowed me to communicate directly to my many friends at once - and thereafter get replies and communicate directly to them one to one.
I am also a BLOGGER - so, it is a way for me to directly inform friends whenever I posted something new - I just send them the LINK or a brief of the post, and IF they want to read more, they will just follow the link and read the full post. Also some media report of interest (with or without my personal comments) could also be sent...
BUT, now WHATSAPP has caused problems for many of us when it set LIMITS - the reason apparently is to prevent SPAM - totally not a good reason - for the Broadcast Groups can only be used to communicate with your OWN friends and acquaintances - NOT the world at large or to everyone. Further, anyone in my Broadcast Group are FREE to 'block' any unsolicited posts - and they also can request to me to stop sending posts - which I then do stop sending them posts..
People generally communicate with ONE ANOTHER a lot - and to restrict such communication to just 35 times a month is FUNNY>>
Should I look for a NEW method of keeping regularly in contact with friends and acquaintances - I hope NOT, but if WhatsApp sticks to this rather unreasonable limit of 35 over all the different Broadcast groups - we make have to look elsewhere for OPTIONS...
