IMAM - Mas Ermieyati Samsudin must resign? So too PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution?

Mas Ermieyati Samsudin must resign as she certainly does not behave like a Malaysian - a country which is a multi-religious and multi-racial country. Now, IMAM ,,,because there is a non-Muslim COO(Chief Operations Officer), it is scratched??? So, what we now have a new category of all Muslim company...not just that thing called the 'Bumiputra Company' - well, this Deputy Minister must also look at the definition of a Bumiputra company, which in fact can be owned also by about 49% non-'Bumiputra'...and even have non-Muslim staff...

Where is UMNO-BN government under Najib heading towards? Let's talk about 1Malaysia - promoting 'racism'...

But wait, the issue was raised by PKR Secretary General - so, is PKR really more racist than UMNO-BN in this issue? Trying to get voter support for upcoming General Elections is one thing, but to raise such issues, it is very discomforting for all Malaysians...Maybe PKR need to clarify matters ...because if Saifuddin Nasution is representative of PKR and/or the Opposition, who is making an issue of the fact that there was a non-Muslim COO...I am worried.
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution had in a statement earlier today questioned the presence of a non-Muslim COO in Imams Sdn Bhd. Citing the company's records, he also noted that it employed three Chinese secretaries. One of the secretaries is MCA Kuantan Youth chief Lee Chai Wah (photo), who confirmed this when contacted.

After Pakatan Rakyat won the last elections, I expected that they who had more than two-third would have amended the State Constitution, to be in line with the Federal Constitution, whereby any State Assemblyperson(ADUN) who had the confidence of the majority of ADUNs would be the Menteri Besar, but that did not happen. Then there was the issue of Wan Azizah - was she not made the Menteri Besar because she was a woman? Remember, let's not shift blame to the Sultan - it is the ADUNs that really decide who becomes PM or MB...

What about PKNS and other Selangor government owned and/or controlled companies - are the other ethnic or religious groups better represented in the Board? Well, I looked at PKNS, and shockingly there is only ONE non-Malay(Teng Chang Kim) and one woman(Dr. Maziah Binti Che Yusof) in a Board of 11. Selangor is an Opposition governed state??? Maybe, they were looking merely at merits - people competent in the 'business' that PKNS runs ...if not, then are we looking at the same kind of policy/practice as is being practiced by the UMNO dominant BN?

IMAM - '...company tasked with running the ministry's latest umrah visa management system...' WHY DO WE EVEN NEED A PRIVATE COMPANY TO DO THIS? There are already 65 tourism agencies handling pilgrimages to Mecca in Malaysia...,and if there anything to do with visas, it is a matter for the Government - the Immigration Department - not the Tourism Ministry. And, the adding of another 'visa management' company, will only burden Muslims going on the UMRAH with additional charges.

What Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and that PKR Secretary General raised is disturbing ... will this mean that all companies dealing with Muslims going to Mecca for UMRAH has to be 100% Muslims...does this also mean the Plane and the air crew, the bus drivers, etc? Is this what BN and the PKR wants...?

Well, if this happens ...soon we may have also other companies practicing similar policies in employment ...electing to employ just people of their own ethnic group or religion? This certainly is a trend we must all oppose...

If PKR does not clarify the stance taken by its Secretary General, one may assume it is also the position of PKR, a supposedly multi-racial party? Even PAS and Amanah, being Muslim parties did not make this a big issue..

One must not forget that many of the Muslim mosques and suraus, and even the Muslim government agencies, are getting its monies from all Malaysians ...irrespective of religion. In fact, the Malaysian peoples monies is used to help all different religious groups in Malaysia ...

This is my personal opinion based on what was reported...Any clarifications could be posted as comments to this post...for readers to consider

Deputy minister: I was in the dark over non-Bumis in Imams

Published:     Modified:

An emotional Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said today she had been in the dark over the involvement of non-Bumiputeras in the company tasked with running the ministry's latest umrah visa management system.

"In fact a day before pitching, I asked my officers again, are there non-Bumiputeras in the company or other issues?

"From the information I received, there was none," Mas Ermieyati told a press conference at the Malaysian Tourism Information Centre in Kuala Lumpur this evening.

The press conference was held within hours after it was announced that the ministry had scrapped the Integrated Manasik Monitoring System (Imams).

Mas Ermieyati, who was almost in tears, also said it was only a few hours after her press conference yesterday that she was alerted of concerns over the fact that one of Integrated Manasik Monitoring System Sdn Bhd's (Imams Sdn Bhd) top executives is a non-Muslim.

Her press conference yesterday was held to announce the implementation of the system.

Imams was meant to be compulsory for the umrah visa application process, and would have been imposed on all 65 tourism agencies that handle minor pilgrimages to Mecca in Malaysia.

Mas Ermieyati, meanwhile, also confirmed the resignation of Imams Sdn Bhd's non-Muslim chief operating officer from his post.
"Only after my press conference yesterday the matter came to my attention and I feel that this matter should not have happened as we take into the issue of sensitivity.

"Even I can't accept it so I asked my officers to check, and they found out its true that there is a non-Muslim COO, who has resigned," said Mas Ermieyati who did not mention the individual's name.

After confirming the information, Mas Ermieyati said she immediately called Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, and the decision to scrap the system was made shortly after.

"To me the resignation should not be taken into consideration because the damage has been done.

"We take into account this thing have happened and because of that we cancel it, the minister ordered to cancel it," she stressed.

However, he said that his position as secretary in Imams Sdn Bhd is only to help the company to process any documents related to the Companies Act 2016.

"Any company that is registered with Companies Commission of Malaysia must fill in the secretary name. The secretary is only responsible for processing company documents that are related to the Companies Act.

"Other documents such as company financial documents or administrative documents, we do not interfere," said Lee who is also an accountant.

Under the new system, umrah pilgrims would have incurred an overall charge of RM90.10 per pilgrim, comprising RM45 for using Imams, RM40 for a comprehensive umrah takaful insurance scheme, and GST. - Malaysiakini, 16/12/2017
