Free and Unfair Elections in Tanjong Piai? Why is Election Commission, BERSIH, SUHAKAM ...silent?

Free and Fair Elections? Using the people's money (government's money) to assist Pakatan Harapan win the Tanjong Piai Bu-Elections?

Will Ministers and Deputy Ministers travel to Tanjong Piai offering this and that to improve chances in upcoming by-elections? No problem if these Ministers and Deputy Ministers as political party leaders take leave and use their own money to go to Tanjong Piai to improve their chances in upcoming elections...

What has happened so far?

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman
Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman today announced an RM4 million federal allocation to upgrade sports and recreational facilities in Tanjung Piai.
Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin
Fourty-four Kukup fishermen who suffered losses close to RM5mil after their fish died due to water pollution recently will receive two High-density polyethylene (HDPE) floating cages. The HDPE cages, each worth RM50,000 ...Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin said the cages would be handed over through the Kukup Fish Breeder Association.“The fishermen will also be provided with an aerator and 3,000 juvenile fish for them to breed immediately, ”

Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub

UPGRADES to three fishing jetties in Tanjung Piai parliamentary constituency in Pontian, with an allocation of RM3 million, is expected to boost the economy and improve the livelihoods of fishermen and local communities. Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub said basic facilities, such as refrigerated storage and stalls for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), would be provided to help boost incomes.

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamarudin

...her visit today too was to check on the implementations of development projects in Tanjung Piai, which was approved by her ministry, as sought by the late Tanjung Piai Member of Parliament, Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik...Zuraida said the projects included the construction of a food court in Kukup, restructuring of a pedestrian walk in the parliamentary area and the construction of a hall and children’s playground in Kampung Melayu, Kukup.
What about Temerloh Parliamentary constituency? ...and other Parliamentary constituencies.. Must an MP die or resign to force benefits for constituents?

When in Opposition, many condemn the BN for using government machinery and resources to improve chances in elections - Is the Pakatan Harapan now not doing exactly what was criticized before?

BERSIH - our free and fair elections watchdog - Why are they not strongly condemning these 'wrongdoings'?

Election Commission - Do they have nothing to say?

If they are using their own money or their party funds, then I see no problem? But it is not the case? Did Tanjong Piai get anything from the government when their MP was alive?

REFORMS - this should happen - or as someone mentioned, are we seeing just BN 2.0?

STOP IT - Ensure free and fair elections ..

Campaigning before nominations, in my opinion is OK, but equal chances to all including potential independent candidates..

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman today announced an RM4 million federal allocation to upgrade sports and recreational facilities in Tanjung Piai.

Syed Saddiq said this was part of RM14.6 million that the late Tanjung Piai MP Dr Mohd Farid Mohd Rafik had requested for the constituency.

"We are just fulfilling Mohd Farid’s wishes as the redevelopment of sports facilities in Tanjung Piai was a personal request by him," he was quoted as saying by the Malay Mail.

“Throughout his tenure as a parliamentarian, he had always stressed about the need for development in Tanjung Piai with the ministries that he came across,” Syed Saddiq added.

Meanwhile, the Pakatan Harapan Youth chief also announced a "listening tour" campaign where the coalition's youth volunteers will spend time and stay with Tanjung Piai residents to understand their issues and hear their suggestions on how to develop the constituency.

The Tanjung Piai seat in Johor fell vacant after Mohd Farik, who was a former deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department died last month.

In GE14, Farid defeated Wee, who was the two-term incumbent, by a slim majority.

Farid bagged 21,255 votes against Wee's 20,731. The other candidate was PAS' Nordin Othman with 2,962 votes.

Harapan leaders have said they expect a tough fight for the seat this time around.

Campaigning for the by-election officially starts on Nov 2 after nominations. Polling day is on Nov 16. - Malaysiakini, 19/10/2019
