DAP Elections - 'strong' leaders needed, who will not easily 'bow down' to the Prime Minister/Government - compromising values/principles it was once known for?

DAP is not the same, after there was a 'leadership change' that happened prior to GE15 when new leaders were elected by the party 'ousting' the old leadership of the past..That, of course, is the RIGHT of party members BUT...

What is also important is their relationship and position within Pakatan Harapan and also the government - note that DAP is strongest member of the government today - being the party with the MOST MPs - but somehow it seems that DAP(even Amanah) have no impact...and we must ask WHY?

Has DAP been reduced to becoming what 'MCA' was in the past BN regime - just a party representing the interest of certain ethnic/religious groups - and not all Malaysians? A follower - not an equal leader in the coalition?

One problem in Malaysia, is the 'brainwashing' or the belief that certain ethnic/religious groups are just '2nd class citizens' and that the lordship of the 'Malay' - this may not be done intentionally, but it happened.

Some may proclaim EQUALITY and human rights, but when they meet and interact with persons of other ethnicity/religion in Malaysia, their 'behaviour' then may be different... different when our they interact with people of similar ethnicity/religion and/or class - VERY ODD but it does happens. [For a lawyer, if he/she is not able to overcome this 'respect' for seniors or persons with titles/reputation, this lack of confidence impacts on their performance making them not so good a lawyer]

I have seen how strong non-Malay leaders sometimes simply cannot deal as 'equal persons' when it comes to dealing with Malay leaders - they behave very differently from when they deal with other non-Malay leaders... why?

It is a personal weakness - the inability of seeing other people as EQUALS - and this happens by reason of AGE(or Seniority),race/religion(in Malaysia), titles and position(be it Datuks or Ministers), etc. You need to believe in the EQUALITY of persons, and treat everyone as equals when you interact with them...

So, the question is whether Anthony Loke or Nga Kor Ming is a victim of these 'characteristics"? Are they too weak to stand up to Anwar, PKR and even UMNO leaders??

Looking at Malaysia, post GE15 - has the leaders of DAP or DAP stood out and taken a strong position against Anwar or Anwar's government - on issues like SOSMA, Sedition Act, GISBH, the charging of Malaysiakini Journalist and the non-charging of the persons involved in the wrongs highlighted by these journalist in the past, on how ERA FM has been offered a compound whilst the actual individual wrongdoers have still not been charged, on the MAHB issue, and now on the Sapura issue...? Malaysians will evaluate ..

Even in Cabinet, look at the Ministerial positions that DAP MPs are holding today - The DAP leader is the Minister of Transport (and, was this not the Ministry that MCA used to hold..). Why is the a DAP MP holding important position like the Minister of Finance, or even the Deputy Prime Minister??

Since GE15, DAP, or rather the once strong DAP popular for its highlighting/fighting for human rights/justice issues affecting all Malaysians, is DISAPPEARING or has disappeared... That DAP had the support of Malaysians...

True, its MPs (as when it was in Opposition) may be still doing work at their own constituency - but that is not enough BECAUSE now DAP is government... and thus has the power to bring about changes itself - without the need of 'begging' the government to act. Hence, with the change in situation, the old methods of DAP MPs/ADUNs getting support from its constituents will no longer work in the same way...

The peoples' support for DAP was an important reason for the peoples' support for Pakatan Harapan. It was definitely not PKR - proven in their performance during the Johor State election, when PKR decided to stand on its own...So, the strength of PH is from DAP and Amanah - not so much PKR.

I wonder whether when DAP alone decided to not get 'good' MPs like Charles Santiago, Wong Tak, Kasthuri Patto, Tony Pua, etc to stand again for GE15 - was it a decision of the new Anthony Loke/Nga Kor Meng leadership, or was it a 'request' by Anwar/PKR - because that also led to the removal of strong MPs, who spoke up if they had a differing opinion, etc...

Now, evaluating DAP MPS - do we have anyone who is 'STRONG' to speak up for what is right? Speak up if they believe that PM Anwar or the Government did something wrong? Interestingly, we have one MP from PKR in the person of Hassan Karim - but DAP MPs have gone silent...

UITM - the government allows Bumiputra Students and FOREIGN STUDENTS - but not non-Bumiputra students. At that time, good MPs should have spoke up - and call for the acceptance of non-Bumi students, if need be restrict to maybe 5-10% of the student population. If UITM was only admitting Bumiputra students - it would have been different? Remember, it is Malaysians that are financing UITM and such...

Has DAP spoken out about Najib's Pardon, the DNAA of Zahid Hamidi, Riza Aziz - the sudden 'bail out' of Sapura Holdings, the provision of monies to Anwar's old school ...

Oops, DAP may not be able to 'criticize' that allocation to Anwar's old school, because our Transport Minister Anthony Loke may be seen to be giving a similar preferential treatment to his constituency and State (the PUBLIC Busses, ...)

New pink buses and a cashless payment system have been made available as a part of the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme across Malaysia, the Bernama News Agency reported on 16 August 2024. According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Negeri Sembilan is the first state to launch the operation with a total of 46 buses—44 minibuses and 2 vans—worth RM79 million (around GBP13.9 million). - Truck and Bus News, 19/8/2024

A Federal Minister is responsible for all of Malaysia, but he starts/focusses on his OWN State, Constituency, one wonders whether this is WRONG more so when Federal funds are used. What about the rest of Malaysia - the smaller towns(where the need for cheap public transport ought to be a priority?) Pahang, Trangganu, etc - where in rural areas, even GRAB is not easy.

A similar behaviour by Anwar, when he allocates money to his alma mater, but not ALL schools - Did other schooled also receive half a million?

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced an allocation of RM500,000 for his alma mater, High School Bukit Mertajam. Of the total, Anwar said RM225,000 would be used for the construction of a surau, while another RM275,000 would be used to address other pressing needs. NST, 30/8/2024

If it is Anwar's own money, then no problem, but to use government money for your own alma mater is wrong - that money should be used for ALL schools for maintenance, and pressing needs. SURAU - normally a prayer room/surau will just be a classroom or part of, so why RM225,000 for a SURAU?

How does PM Anwar treat DAP - noting that DAP has the right to be credited for all government's actions, being a very important component of the government.

So why does Anwar make comments like ' he is just a DAP mouthpiece.' when he should be saying that it is also what DAP, Amanah, PH and government wants to do - his comments implies what???

"We did not give the RM1.1bil to the company; it was specifically for the vendors who had worked for eight years. From a total of 2,000, 80% of them are Bumiputra vendors. Should they be punished? If I don't help them, they will say Anwar is a traitor, he never champions the plight of the Bumiputra, he is just a DAP mouthpiece. If I do help them, they will say we (the government) are helping the company," said Anwar. - Star, 13/3/2025

And, again DAP and/or Anthony Loke takes no issue with such comments - Is the DAP truly part of the Government? Should it allow the PM to make statements that could be seen as not doing what DAP wants, or giving a representation that DAP is not concerned about the plight of the about 60% Bumiputra Malaysians? Either way, one looks at it, it may not be in the best interest of DAP - but the problem is the silence of DAP and its leaders?

Is DAP for all Malaysians, or just the non-Bumiputra Malaysians? I believe that DAP is for all Malaysians - so, any such comments, more so from leaders of PH, should not be tolerated.

DAP ELECTIONS - Party members only decide.

Important Consideration, will the elected leaders have the needed strength of character, principles and values, to deal with PM Anwar Ibrahim, PH and the government - if not, they will become irrelevant when it comes to making government policy and deciding on government action, despite being the party with the most MPs. Should DAP, that has the support of a lot of Malaysians not just party members, accept this?

Younger and NEW leaders are good - but they need to be BRAVE enough to speak out against the Prime Minister and Government if they have a different view, or they disagree with a government's decision.

Sapura Energy's RM1.1bil injection includes management changes

PUTRAJAYA: Due diligence and conditions including a complete restructuring of Sapura Energy Bhd's top management were conducted before the RM1.1bil capital injection into the company, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar - who is also the Finance Minister - said the new capital injection provided by the government, amounting to RM1.1bil, was specifically for the payment of SEB's debts to vendors.

This involves 2,000 local oil and gas SMEs, the majority of which are Bumiputra companies.

"It's not a bailout and not about saving a big company with its top management. The chairman and senior management must all go," he said in his address at the Finance Ministry's monthly assembly on Thursday (March 13).

Anwar said that SEB should not be allowed to go bankrupt as it has the capabilities to handle downstream oil and gas operations.

He criticised those blaming him for helping the vendors.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Anwar said that the capital injection is part of SEB's restructuring efforts and is aimed at helping and saving local workers who have not been paid for their services for a long time.

"It is also crucial for saving the local oil and gas industry ecosystem. It is important to emphasise that this capital injection does not in any way benefit SEB's shareholders or management. In SEB's restructuring, the previous major shareholders are no longer involved in the management of SEB. A new professional management has been appointed to carry out SEB's restructuring," noted Anwar.

Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), the existing significant shareholder of Sapura Energy, said on Wednesday (March 12) that the funds invested would be exclusively and directly used to repay the oil and gas firm’s local vendors. It said this was crucial to ensure the financial survival of Malaysian service providers within the O&G ecosystem, pointing out that Sapura Energy had more than 2,000 vendors. Many of these vendors were small and medium-sized enterprises and made up about 59,000 workers in the O&G sector, it added. - Star, 13/3/2025

Negri gets two new stage bus operators

SEREMBAN: Two new operators have been appointed to provide stage bus services in Negri Sembilan, says transport committee chairman J. Arul Kumar.

The two companies were appointed by the Transport Ministry on April 1, said Arul Kumar, who also holds the local government development and housing committee portfolios.

"They have a contract to provide the service for five years. From July 1, both operators will have to provide a total fleet of 100 new buses, including four electric buses, for stage bus services throughout the state," he said here on Thursday (May 9).

The previous operators' contract ended on March 31, he added.

He said the operators would have a three-month transition period until July 1 before they are required to provide full service.

"Details, including the names of the operators, would be announced in due course by the ministry. What I can say now is that they are completely new and would not come under the myBAS banner," he said.

The myBAS project, which started here in 2015, was part of the Stage Bus Service Transformation programme aimed at putting buses on Malaysian roads that have been without public transportation for years.

At that time, the Federal Government had set aside RM100mil for myBAS services in five states.

Arul Kumar said a study would also be commissioned on the routes to be serviced by the operators.

This was to ensure that the service was truly needed on these routes and if ridership would eventually increase.

"We are also looking at several new initiatives to increase ridership," he said, adding that this would be done in collaboration with the ministry. Star, 9/5/2024
