Reading this article, I see someone wanting the affirmation of the US...a 'pat on the back'... Good boy Zahid Hamidi... If he was not the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, I do not care - but since he is the DPM and is there representing Malaysia, he really must behave better... and stop talking to media about how he felt the US leaders respected him... it is pathetic.
Dr Ahmad Zahid said that during his meetings with US leaders here, he could feel the respect accorded to him.
Yes, Zahid, if and when Malaysia signs the TPPA - even the US business community and people will 'respect' you even more.
No one goes around saying that they feel some other is respecting them - if some other respects Zahid, they will honestly tell Zahid...
Dr Mahathir, putting aside all the 'evil' he did when PM, would never have behaved in the manner that current Malaysian leaders are behaving...Where is the pride?
I wonder whether to get this 'respect' that Zahid talks about, our government maybe willing to sacrifice way too much ...
TPPA - an attempt by US to isolate China? Politically Motivated?
What is Najib's position on Syria - remember the cause of this refugee problem from Syria now is also due to the position that the US and the West took, and also the active part that they played in siding with and assisting the Opposition,....When Najib openly states that Malaysia will take 3,000 Syrian refugees - what is Malaysia really saying? Noting, that there are so many other refugees out there - the Palestinians, etc ...not to mention the over 150,000 we now have in Malaysia who still have not been allowed to work and earn an income in Malaysia whilst they await being possibly relocated to some other third country...Najib says we take '3,000 Syrian migrants' - 'refugees'? Now, over 150,000 refugees/asylum seekers in Malaysia
Has Malaysia become pro-US? or is Najib, Zahid Hamidi and this BN government leading us towards that...
Are we going to become anti-China? Well, how Malaysia treated the Chinese envoy to Malaysia recently was most embarrassing...
I believe that it is best that Malaysia does not allign itself to any super-power - and continue to be non-aligned. What do you all think?
To date, the one thing that comes to mind that the US did for Najib and the BN government is the upgrading of Malaysia to Tier 2
Upgrading Malaysia despite no real change in 'worker exploitation' because of TPPA?
There was also a wild suggestion that the infamous RM2.6 billion may really have come from the US - but I believe that could be far-fetched.
"When I asked them why they donated US$700 million to Malaysia, they said, 'Malaysia is not the only country we are channeling our money to. There are many more friendly Muslim countries who we are donating to.'
Zahid claimed the donation was made among others as a token of appreciation for Malaysia's purported counter terrorism efforts. -
Well, who uses the phrase 'friendly Muslim countries'? Is it more likely a phrase used by a non-Muslim country rather than some fellow Muslim country? An interesting observation..."He told me, 'Your Excellency's country is not the only country we are channelling our donations. There are many other Muslim-friendly countries we have donated to'." Zahid said they were helping BN because of the government's commitment to counter terrorism and maintain Malaysia's status as a Sunni country. - quotes from new reports, see more at Zahid Hamidi should not have met 'alleged donors'- 'interference with on-going investigation'?
And, further the money was for the 'war against terrorism?' US is certainly on the forefront of this fight against terrorism...

Washington appreciates our contributions, says Zahid
WASHINGTON DC: The willingness of
the United States’ administration to have close cooperation with
Malaysia in matters concerning terrorism, cross-border crime and visa
exemption will open a new era in bilateral relations, said Datuk Seri Dr
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister said he saw the positive attitude of US leaders towards Putrajaya following the conclusion of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) negotiations in Atlanta recently.
However, this development did not mean Malaysia should “kow tow” to the United States, he told a gathering of Malaysians at the official residence of Malaysian Ambassador Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin here.
The group had gathered there on Saturday in conjunction with the inaugural National Sports Day celebration in Malaysia.
“Good friends should not kow tow but they appreciate our
contribution especially in resolving the problems of terrorism and
cross-border crime,” he added.
Dr Ahmad Zahid said that during his meetings with US leaders here, he could feel the respect accorded to him.
“Although we are a small nation while the United States is a major power, the feeling of respect exists and we see the chemistry in the discussions that they appreciate what is being done by Malaysia,” he said.
Prior to Dr Ahmad Zahid’s visit here, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had attended the United Nations General Assembly in New York while International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed was in Atlanta to conclude the TPPA negotiations.
On the TPPA, Dr Ahmad Zahid said the United States understood and respected Malaysia’s policy which must be protected when the cooperation came into force.
As such, he said there should be no doubt from anyone in Malaysia that national policies would be ignored.
On the visa-waiver programme, Dr Ahmad Zahid said Malaysians should appreciate the recognition when the country becomes the 39th to join the programme.
“I received positive comments that Malaysians who are in the United States are capable and professional and always look after the image of the country,” he said.
Dr Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Home Minister, said Malaysia will study the structure of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) for adoption by the National Disaster Management Agency which was formed on Sept 2.
He said the Fema structure had undergone vast improvement following the experience gained in handling disasters in the United States such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005. – Bernama - Star, 12/10/2015
