PM Zahid Hamidi after GE15 if BN wins? A 'promise' of no more criminal cases against former Ministers and MPs? Criminals of a certain class safe?

After Pakatan Harapan Plus won in GE14 - most interesting is the fact that former PM(Najib), UMNO President(Zahid Hamidi) and a lot of politicians (and their family members) ended up being charged for crimes of abuse of power, corruption, money laundering, etc.

BARISAN Nasional (BN) will not take revenge against opposition leaders by dragging them to court if it comes back to power by winning the upcoming general election, its chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.

Citing all the court charges leveled against BN leaders after Pakatan Harapan (PH) won the last general election, Zahid said that the coalition would not act with such political motivation if they won the next election.

“I was victimised, Bossku (Najib Razak) was victimised and now he is in (jail).

“What we want is justice but this was the result of the defeat we experienced in GE14,” he said.

Zahid expressed his relief after the Shah Alam High Court acquitted him of all 40 charges in his foreign visa system case.

“God is great and the truth eventually prevailed.

“Forty charges against me in Shah Alam court but these are not the only charges. I still have another 47 waiting,” he said.

Zahid also warned that other BN leaders could be targeted by PH if they do not claim Putrajaya.

We, Malaysians followed the case through media reports ...and many of us were happy that finally JUSTICE was done, and even the 'powerful politicians' were investigated and prosecuted for their crimes.

Zahid understanding of the criminal justice system is warped - The government does not control the law enforcers, prosecutors or court ..

Zahid Hamidi’s Acquittal by High Court Must be Appealed to the Court of Appeal, and Prosecution Failures Must be Investigated - Reforms Needed to Ensure Independence of Deputy Public Prosecutors

Power of PM(Government) to influence police, prosecutors and Judges? Why ask PM to intervene in cases, when he has no such power?

Is Zahid hoping that a win for BN will mean his own criminal cases will be discontinued or the outcome will result in non-conviction. Even Judges may still be compromised so long as the Prime Minister has the power when it comes to appointment and elevation of a Judge to the Court of Appeal and/or the Federal Court >> we must remove this power of the Prime Minister, and let an INDEPENDENT Commission advice the King about appointments of Judges..

Following UMNO-BN convention, they have always made the UMNO President the Prime Minister - so, come GE15, if BN wins, will be seeing Zahid Hamidi as the next Prime Minister of Malaysia??

Ismail Sabri(not the UMNO President) managed to become the Prime Minister because it was a COALITION government BN-BERSATU-PAS Plus, and most likely the other coalition partners might have rejected Zahid Hamidi as Prime Minister...

MOTIVE for BN seems to be connected with the criminal cases against UMNO/BN leaders, members - and Zahid promised that BN, if it comes into power, will not go after past leaders and MPs... >> If anyone, including Ministers or Prime Ministers, commits a crime, they must be investigated, charged tried and sentenced according to law > It is NOT BN or the parties that form the government that decides or have control of investigations and prosecutions > that is WHY we need to strengthen the independence of law enforcers, prosecutors and judges - they must not be subject by government policy, directions or orders...

Will we suddenly see the PARDON of Najib...the discontinuance of cases against Zahid Hamidi...mind you, the conviction of Najib and Rosmah proves that the cases are not political > for their crimes have been proven beyond reasonable doubt in the courts..

Zahid Hamidi and the so-called 'Court Cluster' would likely have been kicked out from their leadership positions in UMNO if there was elections(but alas it has been delayed way beyond their 3-year term...) > and now Zahid and these leaders will decide on MP candidates of UMNO >>> will these also be persons who have committed 'similar crimes' and yet to be investigated, prosecuted ....one wonders. Wait for the list of candidates for MP from UMNO.

So, who will BN place as their PM candidate?

Who will BN place as their candidate for GE15? Will it be those in this 'court cluster'? Would these include those whose offence was compounded?

The compound slapped on Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan is a punitive action and is part of an asset recovery effort under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act, says the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).... Ahmad had paid RM1.1mil as agreed by the prosecution and the defence.

Zahid also warned that other BN leaders could be targeted by PH if they do not claim Putrajaya.

“Tok Mat (Mohamad Hasan), you are on the waiting list. Vicky (Vigneswaran Sanasee) don’t laugh, you are also included.

“What more Saravanan, Wee Ka Siong, you’ll be charged as well. Hisham (Hishammuddin Hussein), don’t smile,” Zahid joked, adding that to avoid such a situation, BN must win handsomely in this upcoming general election.

COMPOUNDS for serious money laundering offences allow government to 'protect the Guilty' from trials and convictions must be abolished??

Serba Dinamik - charged for false statement, now a COMPOUND offer > so, no trial, no conviction, no sentence? - Bar > Mere Issuance of Compounds towards Serba Dinamik Sets a Dangerous Precedent

Well, if the BN is taking the position that they will not investigate or prosecute politicians that have committed crimes - we must seriously consider whether we should vote for BN..

What is the PAS, Bersatu or PH position > would they investigate and prosecute politicians, even from their own parties, if they commit crimes?

BN should be anti-crime > and should certainly make a commitment that they will NOT interfere in criminal investigation or criminal trials of Zahid Hamidi or any other politician or friend of BN. They must also commit that they will certainly investigate and prosecute PH politicians that broke the law - corruption, abuse of power, money laundering, lied to enforcement officers during investigations > it is nonsense to say BARISAN Nasional (BN) will not take revenge against opposition leaders by dragging them to court

Many are getting fed-up with politicians, when caught receiving 'bribes' suddenly turn around and say that it was not for their personal benefit but really 'political funding', for charity, etc

Is Zahid Hamidi saying that Najib Razak is INNOCENT - after trial at the High Court, appeal at the Court of Appeal and then the Federal Court. Is he suggesting that the Malaysian Judiciary is not independent?

Malaysians will have to decide at the polls - mind you in BN too, there are some who are 'clean and honest' and there are some that are not. Same for all political party candidates...

GE15 - Interesting that BN is led by a person facing so many criminal charges, and the PH is led by a person who has been convicted for corruption and sodomy...

“I have promised that I will not take revenge. We are not vindictive; we do not take revenge if we win.

“We feel that politics and victory is not about (being) vindictive. It is not about taking revenge on other people or taking revenge on your rivals,” the Umno president said when speaking at MIC’s annual general assembly.

Zahid added that never in BN’s history has it acted with the motive to enact revenge against their rivals.

“Never in BN history have we taken revenge against our political rivals,” the Bagan Datuk MP said.

Taking a swipe at former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Zahid expressed his disappointment at how the PH government was vindictive against BN leaders, levelling countless charges against them.

Zahid said BN leaders have been punished by the “court of public opinion”.

“We do not want to challenge the judicial system but we want to challenge political charges. We challenge the selective prosecution (against us) because they (PH) are vindictive against BN leaders.

“I was victimised, Bossku (Najib Razak) was victimised and now he is in (jail).

“What we want is justice but this was the result of the defeat we experienced in GE14,” he said.

Former home minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is standing trial on charges of money laundering and criminal breach of trust involving millions from Yayasan Akalbudi and for accepting bribes for various projects.

KUALA LUMPUR: The impeachment proceeding against a defence witness in former home minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s corruption trial has been adjourned to give time to defence lawyers to do research before making a submission.

Lead counsel Hisyam Teh Poh Teik told trial judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah that an interesting point of law had been raised for the first time.

It is whether a document classified under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) can be used to impeach the credibility of a witness.

Sequerah allowed the adjournment to Oct 31.

Earlier today, the judge allowed the prosecution’s bid to impeach contractor Jefri Jamil, the third defence witness in Zahid’s trial.

Jefri’s evidence in court is said to have differed from that given to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Sequerah said the application made by the prosecution under Section 155(c) of the Evidence Act did not indicate as to whether the document (statement recorded by MACC) was classified under the OSA or otherwise.

After examining a portion of the statement given by the prosecution, the judge went on to rule that there were material contradictions.

Jefri is a witness who was offered by the prosecution when Zahid was ordered to enter his defence. The MACC had recorded a statement from him in 2018.

Deputy public prosecutor Raja Rozela Toran later said based on case law, only the judge and the witness could be involved in the proceeding.

She said the statement would be marked as an exhibit and a copy would be given to the defence.

Raja Rozela said Jefri would be given an opportunity to explain why there were contradictions in the statement and his evidence in court.
