When DAP wasted the GOLDEN opportunity to bring forth reforms, allowing itself to be treated badly - and not using power given by people? SOME still unresolved issues of PM Anwar's rule..

DAP(with 40 MPs) was the biggest winner in the last General Elections - emerging as the party with the most MPs. It was akin the UMNO during the BN reign before - the party with the most number of MPs > normally, the party with the most MPs will have a MP of its party be the Prime Minister(no problem there as DAP has so many qualified Malaysian Malay MPs too.

BN/UMNO threat to pull out of MADANI government - and then Zahid get an UNUSUAL statement by Public Prosecutor DUSUKI that a NFA(No further action) position has been adopted - and now Zahid's lawyers thinking of applying for FULL ACQUITTAL..

BN joining MADANI government - got them the Deputy Premiership, Najib's Pardon, and interestingly the Public Prosecutor/Attorney General acted that resulted in Zahid's DNAA, and a withdrawal of an appeal of the prosecution with regard the High Court acquittal to the Court of Appeal...

BN threat to leave MADANI? NFA by AG/PP Dusuki(Unnecessary)? Now Zahid trying for ACQUITTAL? Remove RISK of next AG/PP re-charging Zahid? Are Malaysian Public Prosecutors obedient to the PM?

So, the number of MPs you have in a coalition government matters - besides asking for personal benefits, you can also push for the most important matters that the DAP or any PH or coalition party have been fighting for....

DAP has 40 MPs - making it the dominant party in Pakatan Harapan, and also the Madani Government > and it simply cannot later lay blame on the Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for all the failings and promises not kept. If 40 MPs withdraw support - the PM will fall, and maybe even the Madani Government will fall.

In the past, for the 1MDB Scandal and all the failings of PM Najib - it was wrong not lay blame on all other Government and Opposition MPs - they are to be BLAMED if they stayed silent allowing all government wrongdoings... MPs should be RESPONSIBLE for Malaysia, and when a Prime Minister fails to act as expected - then CHANGE the PM [There is NO NEED for fixing terms of any Prime Minister - for any Prime Minister can be removed the moment the majority of the MPs lose confidence in him/her...

A PRIME MINISTER in Malaysia can be a PM only so long at the MAJORITY of MPs support him/her. It is not like the PRESIDENCY of Trump where he is directly elected by the people and for a fixed term - not so, with Prime Ministers... he can be removed at ANY TIME if he loses the support of the majority of MPs - and ALL MPs are free to act on their OWN - do not have to wait for party approval or orders...

REMEMBER that after the last GE, we had 3 PRIME MINISTERS - when there is no more majority support, the PM falls and is replaced with another PM ...

So DAP, Amanah and all the other MPs that kept Anwar as PM will have to TAKE the BLAME for all actions/omissions OR Failings OR 'Janji Tak Ditepati'(Prmises not kept) of this MADANI government under PM Anwar Ibrahim....

Let's REVIEW some of the disappointments since Anwar became Prime Minister ...

- the failure to REPEAL draconian laws like the Sedition Act, SOSMA and the draconian provisions like section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998- all of which had continued to be used by the Malaysian government so much - to suppress freedom of expression, opinion...etc. etc

- The failure to restore DEMOCRACY - Local Government/Council elections > or even bring about kampung/Taman/etc elections >>> Leadership at all this levels continue to be 'POLITICAL APPOINTEES' - not chosen by the people...hence loyalty lies most likely with those with the power of appointment - the State government....Still no move to allow people to directly appoint their SENATORS...We want DEMOCRACY not political appointees ...RESPECT the WILL of the people.

- 'Protector of the CORRUPT' is what many think of the PM Anwar Ibrahim led-government? Too many criminal cases discontinued by Public Prosecutor? Too many appeals to the Court of Appeal withdrawn by PP thus not allowing CA to confirm correctness of High Court Judge to acquit? Apparent 'selective non-prosecution' of politicians - why not alleged corrupt not charged in Sabah case? Why MACC has yet to investigate Anwar who was implicated in allegations by Bloomberg and Albert Tei?

- GISBH - Businesses are MOST concerned, how a business was killed, and accounts frozen before any of the alleged CRIMES were proven in court and the company was convicted of any alleged crime? Was there even any CRIMES committed by the business that warranted such 'business-killing actions'? Should pre-conviction actions that kills businesses be done away with? Was even Najib's and Rosmah's accounts frozen completely before the alleged crime was proven in Court?

- Then, the non-prosecution of those individuals who  committed a 3R Crime > Insulting Hindu religious practice is also a '3R' Crime? The MADANI Mosque issue? Why were the ERA FM individuals not even charged...

- The US-American Agreement - the risk of changing Malaysia from a non-aligned State to a pro-American State?

- The 'Judicial Crisis' - allegation that the PM chose Judges never recommended by the JAC? Still unsettled because material evidence remain 'hidden' by reason of OSA and confidentiality clauses that criminalises members of the JAC from revealing the truth ??? We want the Judicial Appointments Commission to pick our judges - the Prime Minister is CONFINED to the persons recommended by the JAC. Remember in late 2022, the Rulers Conference also recomended that the PM should not be picking those in the JAC, where now the PM picks 5 out of the 9 members of the JAC > But PM Anwar did not act on this ...WHY?

- The killing of the IPCMC(Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC)). When Anwar became PM, the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) Act was not in force yet - thus all that the Madani Government ought to have done was to re-table the previous IPCMC Bill, that was tabled by the previous PH government - and proceed from where it ended until enactment. BUT the Anwar's Madani government put in force the IPCC Act - shocking...shocking?

Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC)  ACT, which officially came into force on July 1, 2023, after Anwar Ibrahim became Prime Minister. It was a GREAT Disappointment, for one would have expected the new Anwar Ibrahim's government would have not put into force that IPCC Act, but caused it to be REPEALED and for the new IPCMC Bill to be tabled.

- UITM issue - here was an education establishment allegedly for Malay and Sabah/Sarawak natives - where other Malaysians have been denied entry...BUT then it was revealed that UITM has foreign-non-Malaysian students > that raised the question as to why other Malaysians were still being excluded? Sadly, the MADANI government failed to respond - personally I believe that if there is 'preferential treatment' for Malay/Natives of Sabah/Sarawak - it should be a certain percentage, and there should be a certain percentage for OTHER Malaysians too (and it is only right that 'foreigners' be excluded. When Malaysians from different ethnicities/religion/cultures study together - it certainly helps in building UNITY and the Malaysian identity - it gives a chance for students to overcome prejudices of other Malaysians. [MADANI government should have also clarified the 'QUOTA system' - what is it? Is it still reserving how many percentage of seats for the preferred classes (Malay and/or natives of Sabah/Sarawak) - what is the situation with other spaces open for all Malaysians - does other factors not just grades that are taken into consideration - like from which schools/States/rural or urban - noting that different schools are of different standards in terms of teachers/facilities/etc... Last time, this was a factor so much so a student from Pahang did not have to have same grades with those from 'good schools' like St John's Institution where Najib studied... TRANSPARENCY is best - and the confusion that it is ONLY ethnicity that is considered with regard to public university entrance need to be dispelled with...???  Nobody knows what is the preferential QUOTA for public universities - 30%, 50% or 90% because the government has failed to disclose????

When 'controversial' Azam Baki was re-appointed head of MACC by the PM? It was interesting that now it seems that OTHER persons can use a share trading account of another to buy shares - Can not someone like Nethanayu also buy shares using a share trading account of some Malaysians.

-  When 1MDB case against Riza Aziz and others (an effort by 1MDB to recover monies wrongly taken by others) was WITHDRAWN and 1MDB had to pay COST to Riza Aziz - something that could never be done without the consent of PM Anwar Ibrahim.

Riza Aziz - Still no EXPALANATION from PM Anwar as to why 1MDB dropped the suit? How much 'stolen' has Riza returned to Malaysia? Or is it a 'Raya Gift" to Najib's step son - RM1.25 Billion??

 -  The failure of PM Anwar Ibrahim's government to REDUCE Federal Debts and Liabilities - it has increased - not stagnated or reduced? Anwar just decided to REDUCE the annual NEW DEBTS and LIABILITIES - thus ONLY reducing the annual increase of Federal Debts > he continued to spend more that the government made... DEBTS and Liabilities increasing still?

- The act of Malaysian Government filing a police report against Murray Hunter for 'criminal defamation' of Malaysia and/or the MCMC in Thailand, who will follow Thai Laws not whether Malaysian laws was broken?. The criminal case is still ongoing - based on Thai laws(not Malaysian laws) - an embarrassing Transnational SLAPP Action by the Government of Malaysia. SOVEREIGNITY is an issue? UNCONSTITUTIONALITY is also an issue as those who break Malaysian laws should be prosecuted in Malaysian Courts, using Malaysia's own evidence rules and standards... Still, Anwar and Madani Government not withdrawn this criminal action?

Malaysia Must Withdraw Government SLAPP action against HRD Murray Hunter in Thailand’s Criminal Court (44 Groups)

- the FIFA-FOOTBALL SCANDAL - malaysia is being accused of forgery of government documents, attempted deception of FIFA - and related to this is the question of how did these foreigners even qualify for Malaysian citizenship - a matter that need to be looked into.

Hannah Yeoh(Sports Minister) Saifuddin Nasution(Home Minister) - FAM-FIFA Global Scandal - Allegation of Forgery/Lies in making foreign footballers Malaysian Citizens - A BIG EMBARASSMENT?

Criminal Investigation against 7 'heritage' players NOW - after FIFA dismissed FAM's appeal? Now, 7 considering suing FAM? Investigate and prosecute NOW - do not delay.

-  The 'Enforced Disappearance' cases - failure of government to accept and follow the National Human Rights Commission(SUHAKAM)

- Public Asset Declaration of MPs and Cabinet - of course, it should be one when they enter in power and regularly thereafter so the PUBLIC can monitor that there is NO wrongful enrichment. PM Anwar STOPPED this - reason was a BETTER format being developed for the said Declaration - and still after 3 years, no public asset declaration??? With the Public Asset Declarations, Malaysian public can monitor - and even highlight matters not declared - a possible crime.

Did Fahmi lie, mislead or 'confuse' people - he says ‘many MPs’, including himself, have declared their assets? WHEN? Was it a Public Asset Declaration after GE15? Or did MACC ask you...

ASSET DECLARATION - If MACC ask, one suspected of an offence? Investigate LEAK of MACC Data - and how Anwar's aide got access to info?

- Saving Monies - Malaysia could have ended PENSION rights until death for all MPs/ADUNs/Senators - Why burden Malaysians paying pension after a MP/ADUN/Senator is rejected by the people - save by putting them into the EPF/KWSP scheme - massive saving as 222 MPs,... Existing pension rights may not be able to be abolished > but it will affect all NEW MPs/Ministers/etc from now on. To reduce pension obligations, government already hiring contract doctors, etc - so why not save money for them politicians? Also maybe review some of the benefits being given to MPs...car AP, entertainment allowances...

Abolish PENSION for MP/Minister - EPF only. Abolish double income for Ministers - 1 pay, the highest pay only? Parliament has full control of funds spend on MPs - including funds for MP's work, staff, office, etc...

Police wrongdoings - shot dead incidence, death in custody, wrongful arrests as emerged on how Albert Tei's issues - Wrongful use of force on REMAND Prisoners(not yet tried and convicted) that caused 1 death - the MADANI government and the Minister has yet to respond. The police and authorities seem to just defend the 'alleged violators of rights'...

- Even Court Orders are 'IGNORED' or placed little regard by the Malaysian law enforcement - we have the Teoh Beng Hock case, Raymond Koh, Amri, Ruth and Joshua's cases of enforced disappearance that 'points the finger' to law enforcement. We have the INDIRA GANDHI case - the Federal Court in January 2018 ordered the police to arrest the father(kidnapper) and return the abducted child to the mother.... DID the police even try to do as the Court ordered?

- What happened to the TEACHER who punished students by asking them them to stand under the sun - one had heat-stroke and suffered a permanent disability.

WHY teacher perpetrator who 'tortured' kids by standing under the hot sun NOT been charged yet? Another case of 'preferential treatment" of law breakers?

-  there are other issues of concern since PM Anwar Ibrahim became Prime Minister..

In my opinion, PM Anwar Ibrahim's government fails to ACT - many issues seems to have been 'swept under the carpet' - even when questions are raised in Parliament, the ANSWER is not really given...

We prefer a Prime Minister and a Government who will at least commit to investigating and acting - not 'ignoring' ...and hope people will forget in time...

NOW, DAP( and all other parties in the Coalition Government) by their 'silence' seem to have CONSENTED to all the actions and failures of this government under Prime Minister Anwar --  they could have spoke up, threatened or even withdraw support from the PM - BUT they did not, despite having the POWER to do so - real power as MPs decide when a PM is removed in Malaysia... SO, BLAME lies on all these MPs - happy to be 'seat warmers' and personally enjoy the benefits of being government MPs? We cannot blame the PM only - but all who could do something but stayed 'silent'... REMEMBER a BAD PM can so easily be removed..if only MPs act without fear or favour.

FINALLY - the Sabah elections sees a sudden loss of support for DAP, PKR and Pakatan Harapan - is is indicative of how all other Malaysians generally feel?

The hope for REFORMASI - just did not happen.

DAP behaves like the MCA in BN, but DAP in fact is like the UMNO in BN then > as it has the most number of MPs in PH, whilst MCA always had a few MPs compared to the number of MPs of UMNO. So, why has DAP been behaving like MCA or some small party with 1 or 2 MPs?

Worse, how DAP(with 40 MPs), the strongest party in PH, and also the MADANI government is being treated. Look at the number of Cabinet positions that DAP has?

WHY is this happening? Does Anthony Loke and DAP believe that they are not EQUAL citizens? Do they believe that they are 'lucky' to be accepted by Anwar? DAP still continues to be attacked by other parties...it is a Malaysian party, and its victory in elections come because it has support from the Malaysian people - not just certain ethnic groups. Will DAP wake up and behave like EQUAL Malaysians ...

DAP did well as OPPOSITION - but somehow when they were elected to government - emerging as the party with the most MPs - with the power to bring about REFORMS - they faltered. Do we still give DAP, Amanah and PKR another chance? OR do we look for other alternatives..

NOW, DAP, after loss in Sabah elections is speaking out -
If Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim fails to deliver meaningful reforms within the next six months, DAP will reassess its role in the government, party secretary-general Anthony Loke said.

... “This is because we hold 40 (parliamentary) seats. If (someone) withdraws just two seats, the government won’t fall; but if we withdraw all 40 seats, the government will collapse,” he said in an interview with Chinese-language YouTube channel “The Keywords”.

But, it seems that DAP is threathening to leave Cabinet - or maybe even get rid of Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister --- but said there will remain in MADANI government... Does Anthony Loke and the current leadership of DAP have the GUTS to follow through with their threats...???? We shall see...we shall see..

Remember, the current MADANI coalition can still rule > maybe just a change of Prime Minister. This is what happened in PN, when the Muhyiddin was replaced with Ismail Sabri.. DO WE HAVE OPTIONS FOR A NEW PRIME MINISTER - YES, WE DO... even if you want a Malay Prime Minister, there are options - Hassan Karim, Syahredzan Johan (Bangi), Young Syefura Othman (Bentong), Mat Sabu,.. >> if we want a Bumiputera PM, then  even more options. If you want the BEST person as Prime Minister, and  not bothered about ethnicity or religion >>> we have 200 plus options to consider...

Pakatan Harapan must remember that they lost some of the people's support because the reform did not come FAST enough after GE14... the same problem again, and worse the 'partnership' with BN that Malaysians have still not forgiven..and rejected in GE15..

No impact from Umno exit but DAP’s decision critical, says MP

PKR's outspoken MP Hassan Karim looks at the possible outcomes of yesterday's Umno Youth call for the party to leave the unity government.

Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim says a possible DAP pullout of its 40 MPs would leave the unity government without a parliamentary majority.
PETALING JAYA:
The unity government will remain in power even if Umno pulls out as demanded by Umno Youth, but the government’s fate would hang on DAP’s call for a reassessment of its position, says PKR’s outspoken MP Hassan Abdul Karim.

He said the unity government would continue to have a majority even if Umno’s MPs leave, but a possible pullout of DAP’s 40 MPs would lead to the collapse of the unity government which would be left with only 83 seats, far short of a majority in the Dewan Rakyat.

(Umno has 25 seats in the Dewan Rakyat, while its partners in Barisan Nasional hold 4 seats.)

Under the constitution, the government would have to resign or call for a general election, he said.

Hassan’s assessment was made in a Facebook post this evening in which he reviewed the possible outcomes of yesterday’s Umno Youth call for the party to leave the government.

He said the reputations of Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh and DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook would hang in the balance following their calls for a reassessment of their parties’ position in the government.

He said Akmal would have to resign if Umno decided to remain in government, despite the Umno Youth call, while Loke’s reputation and that of the DAP would be ruined if the party also remained in the government if reforms were not carried out over the next six months as the party had requested.

“People will no longer respect DAP,” said Hassan, who is MP for Pasir Gudang.

Last month, Loke said the party would reassess its role in the government if meaningful reforms were not delivered within the next six months. He had pledged to accelerate the reform agenda after the party lost all its eight seats in the Sabah state assembly.

Hassan speculated that the bigger threat to PH would lie in a possible Malay-Muslim alliance should Umno leave the government to team up with PAS and Bersatu.

“Won’t the coalition that brands itself as a single Malay-Muslim coalition be the biggest challenge to PH in the 16th general election?” he said.

Six-month deadline: DAP will reassess role, but won't let Anwar fall

If Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim fails to deliver meaningful reforms within the next six months, DAP will reassess its role in the government, party secretary-general Anthony Loke said.

However, he was quick to stress that this does not mean DAP - which holds the largest number of federal seats in the government - would withdraw its support for the Madani administration and risk triggering political turmoil.

While Loke did not specify, the reassessment could include DAP pulling out of the cabinet and moving to the government backbench.

“I have made it very clear today, and I hope all the media will quote this sentence - ‘DAP will not let this government fall until the next general election’.

“This is because we hold 40 (parliamentary) seats. If (someone) withdraws just two seats, the government won’t fall; but if we withdraw all 40 seats, the government will collapse,” he said in an interview with Chinese-language YouTube channel “The Keywords”.

‘There must be changes’

The remarks follow DAP’s crushing defeat in the Sabah state polls on Nov 29, where all eight of the party’s candidates were wiped out.

In response, the party’s central leadership convened an emergency meeting, vowing to accelerate reforms to regain public confidence after critics accused the once-vocal opposition party of losing its voice upon gaining federal power.

Loke said that over the next six months, the government must demonstrate tangible change and offer hope, reversing the negative public perception.

“I’m not saying all problems can be solved in six months, but we must see some changes - enough for voters to feel this government still has hope. Public perception must be improved.

“If perception cannot be changed, then after six months we must make a decisive decision, but that decision does not mean we intend to let the government fall - absolutely not,” he stressed.

“After six months, whatever decision we make, we’ve already informed the prime minister that we will not withdraw our support for him, at least until the next general election.

“How we move forward, how we contest, how we prepare for the next general election - these will be discussed later,” he added.

Reforms priority, but changes take time

Noting that politics is fluid, Loke, who took over the secretary-general post in March 2022, said the priority is to see reforms succeed.

“We want Anwar to succeed and secure a second term, because if Anwar succeeds in reforming, it means Malaysia succeeds,” he said.

Loke emphasised that DAP members do not cling to government posts and “can give them up at any time”.

“If me resigning as minister tomorrow means the government can immediately recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), I would resign right away.

“But that’s not how it works, giving up a post does not solve all problems; there must be a proper process and plan,” he added.

He acknowledged that even DAP members have “knee-jerk reactions” following the party’s defeat in Sabah, calling for the party to leave Pakatan Harapan or distance itself from Anwar.

“I cannot accept such views. Members can express them, but as secretary-general, I must hold a firm position.

“If DAP cuts ties today, will that solve everything? Will we suddenly see everything implemented? That’s why I said we must give at least six months to try.

“If after that we still can’t get things done, then we can discuss whether we should remain in government,” he added.

UEC recognition

In the same interview, Loke said the government would introduce a new language policy within six months, which includes recognition of the UEC.

“Why has the UEC issue never been resolved? Because it has always been a political matter in Peninsular Malaysia.

“I hope Chinese voters understand that we (DAP) have not given up on pushing this forward. But within the government, or in the prime minister’s considerations, the reactions of other political forces must be taken into account.

“How do we balance everything, how do we package a policy comprehensively, and how do we solve this problem more effectively?

“So, the prime minister is proposing a new language policy that strengthens all languages, including Malay, English, and Chinese. And including Chinese means addressing the UEC issue,” he added. - Malaysiakini, 9/12/2025
